CARE TIPS
How to care for your new grass seed and straw.
For best results:
- Water grass seed lightly everyday until new grass is established
- It is ok to cut the established grass around seeded areas - try to keep off seeded areas
- Cut grass & straw when more than 50% of new grass is visible and tall enough
- Your first cut should be around 14 days after seed installation
- Cut new grass and straw every week once established - water after cutting helps
- Do not rake or remove straw as it will damage those tender grass seedlings
- Straw will disappear as the grass gets thicker - usually after 3 - 4 cuts
- Straw actually becomes new thatch layer to protect your new grass seedlings
- Do not reseed bare spots too soon - let Crossfire do its job to fill in bare spots
- Plan to reseed late summer - you should seed no later than end of September
- Plan to reseed in March if you have bare spots
- Always use seed fertilizer and straw when reseeding
